Honey Racing – Race Report
Pembrey, South Wales
Mike was a bit apprehensive on going to this track after having crashed on the test day last there last season!
Mike had about 6 sessions out on track all going well making a few little changes to the bike to set it up for the track. On the second to last session Mike lost the front going into the first corner, luckily he wasn’t hurt at all! Mike and his brother Danny worked hard to get the bike ready for the last session so Mike could test it ready for qualifying on Saturday morning. Mike was happy with how the bike felt so it was a relief that we made it past Friday at Pembrey!
When we arrived at the track we had to change the tyres due to it raining so was going to be a wet qualifying session! Mike went out and looked confident and qualified 3rd overall out of 24 on grid so was very happy with that.
Luckily the rain had stopped and it was a dry race!
Mikes start wasn’t great and he was overtaken by some of the premier boys as we knew this would happen but he didn’t let them get away and had quite a good battle with a couple of other riders swapping positions throughout the race, he finished 8th overall – 1st in class – finishing 6 seconds ahead of 2nd clubman.
Mike was starting 7th on the grid, he got a better start and soon got up to speed doing consistent lap times hanging onto the premiers in front. Mike finished the race 9th overall – another 1st in class – this time finishing nearly 9 seconds in front of the second clubman.
In both of theses races Mike got the fastest clubman lap.
Mike was starting 9th on the grid which is not a great place as it’s on the outside of the track and not a great position for the first corner! Mike got a good start however, and made it through but couldn’t quite tag onto the front runners so it made for a very lonely race for Mike, with the guy in front of him 10 seconds ahead and the guy behind was about 8 secs behind so he was just lapping on his own! But he finished the race 6th overall another 1st in class! And another fastest clubman lap of the race as well which was also Mike’s personal best time around this track.
Mike was starting 6th on the grid, he got going okay then got sat up on the hairpin which he said spoilt his race as the first group had gone and he couldn’t catch them by the time he got some places back but he still finished 7th overall and 1st in class!
So all in all was a great weekend with 4 out of 4 class wins – Mike extends his lead in the championship.

Honey Racing Race Report
Brands Hatch Round 2
After what seemed like a long winter Mike’s first round of the 2013 racing season for Bemsee has begun!
Mike is racing in the Morello services MRO Powerbikes as a Clubman so there is 2 classes in one race, Mike is up against the Clubman and only scores points in the Clubman Class.
Mike missed the morning tests due to some issues with the bike but 4 spark plugs later he was ready to go out, after not being on the bike since the last round at brands in September Mike was soon up to pace and happy with how the bike was running.
After a difficult qualifying session due to oil spillages on track Mike qualified
11th overall on the grid, 4th Clubman.
After a difficult decision on tyre choices we went for scrubbed wet tyres due to wet track and it drizzling!
After starting 11th on the grid Mike soon got up to 7th and was up with the front runners, he finished the race 7th overall, 2nd Clubman so was very happy and raring to go for the second race after setting faster times during the race than some riders in front of him this meant he will be starting race 2 from 5th on grid!
20 points for the 2nd place very happy!
The weather had got considerably worse throughout the afternoon so we put a new set of wet tyres in the bike ready for the race, Mike was all geared up and raring to go for this race as he likes riding in the wet and has had some great results in the past to prove it!
But due to lack of communication from the race office missing the first 2 calls for the race they suddenly got told to head to the pits, but Mike and 6 others were too late and had to start the race from the pit lane so Mike had to work his way through the field from the back to try and gain some places back! He ended up finishing 10th overall, 4th in class so 13 more points but a very unhappy and angry Mike!
Thankfully the weather was much better!
Mike was starting 10th on the grid. His start wasn’t great (which isn’t like him!) but after a hard fought race and a few changing positions throughout Mike finished 6th overall 1st in class! So got the full 25 points!
Mike was starting from 7th on the grid and after a much better start soon got into the rhythm and finished 9th overall and another 1st in class so another 25 points! Team Honey Racing is very happy! – Also in both the races on Sunday Mike set the fastest clubman lap.
So all in all it was a great weekend and was better results than we had hoped for considering the class of riders Mike is up against this season!
So next round is at Pembrey in Wales on the 4th 5th May! Where Mike takes the 83 points from this weekend and hopefully will gain more!!
Big thanks to all the sponsors for your help and support, and thanks to all who came along at the weekend for your support.
